In the Hudson Valley, pool season is short and everyone wants it to start at the same time. Planning ahead is the easiest way to avoid losing the first warm weeks.
Winter is hard on pools. Freezing weather can stress pipes and liners, so when the cover comes off, look over the pool before you fill it or start it up.
Check the liner for tears and loose spots, look at the visible plumbing for cracks, and watch for any wet ground around the pool once it's running.
If something needs fixing, or you're thinking about a new liner, book it early. Repairs are easier to schedule before everybody else opens their pool.
